I forgot to mention this, but I'm finally higher in levels than BoozerBear was when I first joined. He and TheBub were both level 40 on April 8th and I remember msg-ing Boozer when hit 41 with a congratulations. Ha.

I'm also nearly back to pre-Black Sunday meat levels. Sad. I should've held onto more but less is better I suppose.

It's interesting to me the changing targets of vitriol. Pimonkey was long attacked for his bugfinding adventures. For most of the time I've been on KoL the enemy has been BoozerBear and now folks love beating up on HotStuff. I claim their efforts are mis-directed at these whitehats, but "meh whatever."

I can't believe these rumors won't die. Let me, for the last time, definitively and authoritatively state:

1. You cannot kill, maim, or otherwise harm the Hermit.
2. The Lounge channel exists and there is no quest to do or item to collect to get in there.

Also, re: Contrickster's Top 13 Clans list... Alliance from Hell is the most over-rated clan out there - and always has been. I'm even breaking with Chubbles on their historical importance. I'm talking about them as a clan, not as individuals so please don't msg me with "omg I wuz in AFH and I rock, right?!!"

*SPOILER* Since it's been spoiled on the forums multiple times already I'll dump it here as well: the Spooky Hockey Mask is a dream drop - you get it by resting at your campsite. Congrats to Esjay on getting his item implemented! :)

Lastly, for those who keep asking for this feature - word on the clothesline says soon we'll have a way to show off our rares or favorite items, a display case or pedestal of sorts. We'll see how it comes out.

Ok so I've made myself pretty scarce. I don't know what my plans are at the moment - should I just take a full vacation from KoL - go cold turkey and all that? I already miss not being "in the loop," truth is I liked have my ears to the ground, keeping tabs on everyone. I think having a handle on community pulse is important...

In mid-November she's fired from Radio KOL for shirking responsibilities, ie, leaving two hours of dead air on RKOL. Then on the clan messageboard:

After a brief break, she came back on the 18th with renewed purpose - she wasn't disbanding, not turning over leadership, and now creating her own Shoutcast station.

December rolls around and Underground Radio KoL goes public to much weeping and gnashing of teeth. It gets the official "meh, whatever" from The Powers That Be but drives many an adventurer batty with their constant chat ads. It doesn't last long.

Beginning (in earnest) in mid-November, the natives got restless in clan TGK. One of their long-time members, realizing the limbo state the clan was in, branched off and formed The Ugly Ducklings on December 5th. J1mmy wrote, "I feel at the moment TGK has a cancer, a cancer that could have been cured but one that was not allowed treatment. As a result it has grown, grown to a stage where I don’t think the clan can survive much longer."

He was spot on: on December 6th The Goddess's Knights clan was deleted, leaving 1400+ members clanless. SexyGoddess tries to pawn off her account on eBay before disappearing into the spectral mists where she is today, munching down on pickles undoubtedly.

It makes no sense to me. But "pick your battles" and all that...is this one I want to get into? I mean I agree with you, Jick, it does sound wishy-washy. Look at these three names:

Thought I'd start off by providing a bit of context for the Lounge debate that's perpetually raging on the forums. I calculated this tonight: some 125,750 accounts and around 205 in Lounge means 0.16% of all characters are Loungers.

Contrary to what's been said on the forums, most of the people in Lounge have done something out of the ordinary to merit their access. Only some know Jick/Skully personally, are old-school, etc. I keep writing and deleting so as not to sound like a complete dick. I'll just stop here. ;)

Lots of news, the biggest being Jick joining Warehouse 23. He's wanted to for a while so we're all pretty happy he finally did. And it only took 3 hours for it to hit the forums. We're working on some cool projects so I'm excited.

Nikatoni released Coldfront Marketplace, a fantastic tool that's long overdue. Huge thanks to Coldfront and Jick for this.

Lastly, the Jick/Skully show was tonight - I could only catch the first 15 minutes or so but I'm working on getting a hold of the mp3 and I'll hook you guys up once I do.

Oh yeah, I forgot to celebrate: I finally hit the Most Powerful leaderboard - which I've single-mindedly focused on for an eternity, forsaking new zones and items in the pursuit of that goal.

Issue 6 of the KoL Magazine is up. Nikatoni of KoL Coldfront mentions that he's working on something secret with Jick - I'm assuming in addition to becoming the official fansite. I'm intrigued.

Today, Monday, also marks the first day of work for Xlyinia - Jick's new secretary (and Boozer's girlfriend).

For those hoarding candy, holidays are on the way - based around the KoL calendar, not ours, which means Halloween will come sooner than Oct 31st. Also, contrary to popular belief, NovusOrdoSeclorum is still a moderator.

Lastly, Philanthropists is really being shaken up - Bashy took over, for starters, and made sweeping changes. Their roster is changing daily as well, so we'll see where they stand when the dust settles.

A couple things to remember re: the whole Reset debate:

1. In May there was 6.3B meat in the economy; it was considered way too much by Jick and a primary reason to reset. Today there is well over 100B.

2. Over 70% of all accounts were registered while the Reset was certain (Reset FAQ posted). In other words, the majority signed up knowing all their work could be gone within two weeks.

Unrelated, but check this from Fnord7: "...Yesterday, not counting radio subscriptions, chatbot had about 2300 interactions." Whoa, go chatbot!

My History of Loathing site is up. Ch-ch-check it out. Naturally, Xenophobe and Firestorm Zero pissed all over it but that's to be expected. I think most people will find it interesting and useful.

A couple actual statistics and guesstimated statistics from Fusilliban:

- Some 70k active ones this month
- Percentage of players who go in chat: 30-40%

Meat Day seemed to have gone very well yesterday. All of Newbie was seriously beside themselves with excitement. I forgot to celebrate my half-birthday on the 8th! Trog's officially been in the Kingdom for 6 months.

The 9th marked Jick's 3 month independence. Except on Monday he said it was the first time since quitting his job (for KoL) that Asymmetric and KoL felt like a job - "the thrill is gone." Just a reminder to occasionally send Jick a little note of encouragement or something - he really does work hard for everybody.

The Mr. Store has opened in Town on the Right Side of the Tracks. It's very sweet. I bought a Golden Mr. A and Cheshire Bat for starters. This, kids, is an example of how to get rich: buy low, sell high. Prices jumped by 100M in less than an hour. I have to give props to Gigs here who was also a co-conspirator and, like me, made a very nice profit off the whole thing.

There are between 25k-30k active players and a little over 130k active accounts. On average there are 1000 new sign-ups/day - though this spiked by 400% the day CNET ran their KOL article by John Borland

Alexa has more interesting traffic data for the KOL website.

Papa Zito has a new KOL program that aims to go beyond the simple HTML helpers so common. It appears to still be very buggy but give it time and this could turn into something great. I give Papa huge props on the effort. You can download the program here.

Welcome to the resurrected KOL blog! I deleted the old posts though it was a nice nostalgic trip to read what Kingdom life was like back in May. Regardless, stay tuned for a bigger better blog updated semi-regularly.
