A couple things to remember re: the whole Reset debate:

1. In May there was 6.3B meat in the economy; it was considered way too much by Jick and a primary reason to reset. Today there is well over 100B.

2. Over 70% of all accounts were registered while the Reset was certain (Reset FAQ posted). In other words, the majority signed up knowing all their work could be gone within two weeks.

Unrelated, but check this from Fnord7: "...Yesterday, not counting radio subscriptions, chatbot had about 2300 interactions." Whoa, go chatbot!

Major stuff is going down, that's for sure. I hope this Havaack-inspired turmoil is a catalyst for major changes, but I'm not holding my breath. I am getting a kick out of all these wise old sages coming out with their "I too once ran a huge MMORPG, let me tell you how these things go."

In other news, "gspawn" needs to stop posting on the forums. Permanently.

And much thanks to my new clan, Warehouse 23, for accepting me into their group.

There are lots of great (and not-so-great) submissions for the official Comic of Loathing but I've weeded through the entries so far and picked the six best. In no particular order:
1. Strog
2. Kollololler (again)
3. OhGodtheRats (again)
4. JoeK
5. Zer0
6. Ultrasupergenius

My unofficial Gallery of Custom Avatars - some very cool ones there. I love Jurgen's hermit one, props to Skatje, xZanu and Winston Churchill for theirs as well. Though really most are quite pimp.

Issue 5 of the KoL Weekly Magazine is up. Continuing the trend, it's worse than the previous one. Ah well I still skimmed through it.

HotStuff is trying to find the drunkenness cap so send him any Dark Potions you may have sitting around. Just do it. All the cool kids are.

Ooh, drama in Lounge - there be spies! Oh noes!

Hopefully Jick will enforce a strict No Multis policy now. And starting booting the riff raff too (but not Riff).

A week or so ago I told Jick to add a link to the Policies of Loathing under "Enter Chat." He said it was a good idea and added it 30 seconds later - only, he did it to the dev server and forgot to roll out the changes until today.

Sorry I haven't posted recently. The History has me busy of course. Thanks again to everybody sending in suggestions and corrections - Qrbrbirlbel gave me quite a few and Inconnu's been helping with some stuff before my time. A couple guys have volunteered to work on some really cool stuff for it so hopefully that'll come about soon.

I'm glad to see a few people using my reset buttons on the forums, that made me laugh. A few links:

  • Fnord7 has made mallbot data available.
  • Similarly, Stankfoon's Item Price Reports.
  • Ragnok's going public with his new spoiler site. It's very well done and quite comprehensive. Check it.

Quato posted his KoL interviews, with folks like Riff, HotStuff, balam, and myself.

Ohayou has an interesting graph of KoL average load by hour. Seems 4-8am EST is the best time to adventure.

My History of Loathing site is up. Ch-ch-check it out. Naturally, Xenophobe and Firestorm Zero pissed all over it but that's to be expected. I think most people will find it interesting and useful.

A couple actual statistics and guesstimated statistics from Fusilliban:
    - Roughly 250k total accounts
    - Some 70k active ones this month
    - Percentage of players who go in chat: 30-40%
    - Percentage of those players who trade outside of the mall: Probably 20-30% or so.

I finished my first draft of the History of Loathing. It's currently 38 pages long and I already have a list started for stuff I need to find the dates for and add in. Hopefully it'll be online by the end of today or early tomorrow. If you've got webspace I can use that would help greatly in this department...

Illuminati is back down to #2. Congrats to HotStuff though for breaking onto the Top 25 Most Powerful list.

Also, check out BoozerBear's bbq pics from this weekend. Thanks to Gigs, TheBub's pictures are here.

Sweet, the forums are on a new server. Thanks Jick!

In addition to the game itself and my ever-growing list of ideas for it, I'm also working on amping up the documentation as well as compiling an extensive history of the Kingdom. Tedious work, but interesting.

Meat Day seemed to have gone very well yesterday. All of Newbie was seriously beside themselves with excitement. I received almost 1.3M meat - thanks to Countess Ravioli, BunBun, Bowser, chatbot, adwriter, Vultar, and Verve. I hope the newbies I helped didn't blow it all already. I also got 600 advs of The Smile of Mr. A from BoozerBear because, well, he's just that cool.

Speaking of, Boozer's disbanded Mahi and moved in with Warehouse 23. This bumps my clan, Illuminati, up to the #1 spot. Sweet, I think.

In other happenings, folks are getting too desperate for Lounge access. Sources confirm an anonymous someone is trying to buy their way in with a Talisman of Baio and 10M (!).

FireballX301 is quickly headed towards my list of ignoramuses. This has to be one of the most asinine and anserine threads I've ever read. Words escape me. This post certainly didn't win him any favour with me. By the way Fireballx, my statement there was simply sarcastic, not sardonic nor cutting. Sorry bud.

Happy Meat Day - but more importantly, Happy-Decade-Free-of-Cancer Day for BunBun!

In forum news: stop posting meatsink ideas. Seriously. I'm so sick of that word. If y'all are really so pro-meatsinks, just kindly let Jick know you're pro-reset too, for that'll really take care of the excessive meat problems around here.

The cumulative ban system Jick implemented some weeks ago is truly fantastic - I believe it's Birdy who deserves the most credit in pushing Jick to do this. Believe it or not, a couple folks are currently serving 10-day+ bans

Lots o' hacking discussions going on. And nobody getting hacked. Folks, don't hand out your password and then wonder why your account is gone the next day.

Aelfrhian needs to be made a forum mod immediately. Seriously. And then she can delete every single one of RavioliofDoom's threads. Perhaps start locking all these Bashy threads too. I know it creeps him out and me too. People need a hero I guess.

re: "You say to give Jick notes of encouragement. How can this be accomplished, might I ask?"
The easiest way is to PM him in-game or through the forums. I can almost guarantee you right now that you probably won't get a response but hey, that's not the point. He literally gets hundreds of msgs a day but everyone loves to get You-rock-thanks-man mail.

Also, if you haven't checked the RKOL website recently you really should, it's pretty sweet: Radio KoL.

My quest for 500 adventures - though apparently I wasn't the first to do the 19-mafia-wine thing (I should've known). Ah well it was interesting.

Elsewhere in the Kingdom, I sent some ideas to Jick via Boozer, who's chatting with him tomorrow. HotStuff sent in 12 pages of bugs and ideas. He's the "rox0rz." There's a couple things in the works relating to me, hopefully I can speak of them soon...

I forgot to celebrate my half-birthday on the 8th! Trog's officially been in the Kingdom for 6 months.

The 9th marked Jick's 3 month independence. Except on Monday he said it was the first time since quitting his job (for KoL) that Asymmetric and KoL felt like a job - "the thrill is gone." Just a reminder to occasionally send Jick a little note of encouragement or something - he really does work hard for everybody.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, I'm going to attempt to max out my adventures. Theoretically it's possible to do 500, but I think I'll be lucky to get 400. I've spent an ungodly amount of meat on mafia wine. Wish me luck.

    Dear Sir.,
I am Trog Dor, the son of BoozerBear, former Nigerian Foreign Minister - who were killed in the attacks on the Penguin Information Center. In wake of attacks I came upon good fortune that was,, to my relief, secret to all but the utmost of those deserving the secrecy of that which was upon hitherto not in my possession prior. I know we havenot met but I know I can trust in your confidence and honesty and have full will that you can aid me. Simply set up a multi for me to deposit all my funds (I cannot do it myself for fear of repercussions of which you need not know) - after which on agreed upon date I will repossess the multi and take the meat, except your fair. share of course. To confirm your trustworthiness, please pass along you're password and 50M meat to made sure you have trust and patience and expedite this business endeavor of ours.
    Sincerely,
    Trog Dor

I really want a custum avatar but don't know what to put in it. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

In other news, the Mr. A market (as always) is nasty. Enter at your own risk. I'm considering retiring from it again. Getting Boozer 1000 Mr. A's was as good as it'll get I'm afraid.

I'm also a little excited because it looks like I'm fast closing the gap between me and the Most Powerful leaderboard.

It's amusing to me how there can never be a single day in KoL without controversy and gossip. Inari's been "hacked" - she and her multis are no more, though someone has already taken up that character name. Now folks are pissing on the Mr. Store, something the KOL community itself asked for. Three cheers for more servers though!

Reminder: Muscle Day is tomorrow, so save up your adventures.

The Mr. Store has opened in Town on the Right Side of the Tracks. It's very sweet. I bought a Golden Mr. A and Cheshire Bat for starters. This, kids, is an example of how to get rich: buy low, sell high. Prices jumped by 100M in less than an hour. I have to give props to Gigs here who was also a co-conspirator and, like me, made a very nice profit off the whole thing.

To all future chat jackasses: if you want to create multis to incite chaos, you might consider making your multis' names at least vaguely different. You may think you're being tricky by changing a letter (or maybe two!) but most of the chat moderators read English fairly well. We see through your clever ruse oh mighty hax0r.

Some recent KOL stats for you...
There are between 25k-30k active players and a little over 130k active accounts. On average there are 1000 new sign-ups/day - though this spiked by 400% the day CNET ran their KOL article by John Borland

Alexa has more interesting traffic data for the KOL website.
